Paddington in Peru” will be released by Sony Pictures Releasing in the United States on February 14, 2025. It was originally set to hit theaters in the country on January 17, 2025.

This is the third installment in the “Paddington” film series. The first one was released on November 28, 2014 in the United Kingdom and on December 3, 2014 in France and the sequel was released on November 5, 2017 in the U.K. and on December 6, 2017 in France.

Filmed in Colombia, Peru and the U.K. from July 2023 to October 2023, “Paddington in Peru” marks the feature film directorial debut of Dougal Wilson. Born in Heswall, Merseyside, England, U.K., he attended Durham University in Durham, England.

Mark Burton, Jon Foster and James Lamont wrote the screenplay of the film based on Paddington Bear, a character created by Michael Bond. The character first appeared on October 13, 1958 in Bond’s book “A Bear Called Paddington”.

In the film, the character is voiced by Ben Whishaw. The character receives a letter from the home for retired bears in Peru, informing him that Aunt Lucy, voiced by Imelda Staunton, is acting strangely and she deeply misses him. 

Paddington goes to Peru with Henry Brown (Hugh Bonneville), Mary Brown (Emily Mortimer), Judy Brown (Madeleine Harris) and Jonathan Brown (Samuel Joslin). Upon arriving in the South American country, they are informed by Clarissa Cabot, the Reverend Mother (Olivia Colman) that Aunt Lucy has gone missing in the jungle.

On November 3, 2024, the film had its world premiere in London, England. StudioCanal released it in cinemas in the U.K. on November 8, 2024 and will release it in France on February 5, 2025.

Based in London, Framestore provided visual effects for the film. Also in the cast are Antonio Banderas, Ben Miller, Carla Tous, Ella Bruccoleri, Hayley Atwell, Jessica Hynes, Jim Broadbent, Joel Fry, Julie Walters, Robbie Gee, Sanjeev Bhaskar and Simon Farnaby.
