Kang and Evans co-starred in the action film “Weekend in Taipei”. Among their co-stars were Gwei Lun-mei, Lu Yi-ching, Patrick Lee, Pernell Walker, Tuo Tsung-hua and Wyatt Yang.
The film was directed by George Huang and produced by Luc Besson and Virginie Besson-Silla. Huang and Besson wrote the screenplay.
On September 1, 2024, the film had its world premiere at Vieshow Cinemas Xinyi in Taipei, Taiwan. On September 25, 2024, it hit theaters in France and Taiwan.
In the film, Kang plays a drug cartel leader named Kwang. Evans’ character John Lawlor is a Drug Enforcement Administration agent who goes undercover at a Chinese restaurant in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA to gather evidence of drug trafficking by Kwang.
This is not the first time Kang and Evans co-starred in a film. They played Han Lue and Owen Shaw, respectively, in “Fast & Furious 6” and “Furious 7“.

In an episode of the “How to Fail with Elizabeth Day” podcast, Evans opened up about how he is dealing with body image insecurities. He shared, “I still sometimes go to the gym and just feel very anxious.”
According to Evans, he sometimes feels like he does not look good enough when he looks at himself in the mirror. He said he has terrible anxiety about feeling good enough physically although he has had to learn to be kinder to himself.
For Evans, while part of the anxiety is not completely bad because it gives him a little something to fight for, it can be overwhelming. He admitted that his insecurity does not go away although he has learned to deal with being not massively confident about many things about himself.
“I get cast in certain roles that require a certain amount of physical strength and aesthetic,” Evans said. “It’s been good because it’s probably kept me on the straight and narrow.”
Evans will play a former criminal pushed into the military to avoid prison in the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series “Criminal“. He is also set to star in the sci-fi action film “World Breaker” with Charis Agbonlahor, Billie Boullet, Kevin Glynn, Mila Harris and Milla Jovovich.
