‘Wicked’
Distributed by Universal Pictures, “Wicked” had its world premiere at the State Theatre in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia on November 3, 2024. It his theaters in the United States on November 22, 2024.
This is the first part of the two-part film adaptation of Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman‘s stage musical of the same name. The musical was loosely based on Gregory Maguire‘s 1995 novel “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West”, which was based on L. Frank Baum‘s 1900 novel “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz”.
Jon M. Chu directed the two parts, which were both written by Holzman and Dana Fox. The second part will be released on November 21, 2024.
David Stone and Marc Platt produced both parts. Alice Brooks and Myron Kerstein are the respective cinematographer and editor of both parts.
