Dr. Anthony Stephen Fauci is an American physician and immunologist of Italian and Swiss descent. Born in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, United States, he is the second child of Stephen A. Fauci and Eugenia Lillian Abys Fauci, who owned a pharmacy in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn.

Stephen, a pharmacist, is the son of Antonino Fauci and Calogera Guardino, who were from Sciacca, Italy. Eugenia is the daughter of Giovanni Abys, an artist from Switzerland, and Raffaella Trematerra, a seamstress from Naples, Italy.

Raised Catholic, Anthony attended Regis High School on Manhattan’s Upper East Side in New York City. He captained the school’s basketball team.
