Rubi Verduzco
On December 24, 2024, Verduzco’s baby was found left alone at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Hollywood, also known as The Guitar Hotel, in Hollywood for around 30 minutes before a Seminole Police Department officer arrived. The infant was wearing a soiled diaper out in the open elements.
Around 15 minutes later, Verduzco arrived and told the officer that she fought with the baby’s father. She claimed that the baby was left with some unknown friends whom she was unable to name.
Displaying bloodshot, watery eyes, Verduzco appeared very intoxicated. She was slurring her speech.
Verduzco was identified by her Oklahoma Medical Marijuana card. A strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from her breath.
While Verduzco was able to tell the officer the name of the baby, she was not sure of the birthdate. She then called a man she claimed was the baby’s father.
Initially, the man said he was in Oklahoma but later called back and told the officer he was actually in Orlando, Orange County, Florida and was not sure if he could come to The Guitar Hotel to retrieve the baby. The officer could not verify if the man was actually the baby’s father.
The officer arrested Verduzco. Based in Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida, the Florida Department of Children and Families took custody of her baby.
Bond for Verduzco was set at $2,500. She was booked into the Broward County’s Main Jail in Fort Lauderdale, Broward County and charged with two counts of felony child neglect.
