Geoffrey J. Testa, 24, of Amherst, Erie County, New York, United States works as an English teacher at Amherst Central High School in Snyder, Amherst. He is accused of being an online predator.

Amherst is around 394 miles away from Fairfax County, Virginia. Formed on July 1, 1940, the Fairfax County Police Department is based in Fairfax, Virginia.

On January 27, 2025, the FCPD launched an operation targeting online predators. As part of the operation, detectives with the child exploitation unit (CEXU) of the department’s Major Crimes Bureau posed as children online to identify individuals looking to solicit illegal sex acts from minors.

According to the FCPD, seven men, including Testa, initiated explicit conversations with the detectives posing as children. In some cases, the suspects sent explicit images of themselves and asked for explicit images in return.

Upon arriving in Fairfax County with plans to commit sexual acts with minors, Testa and six other men were arrested by detectives from FCPD’s CEXU and the Street Crimes Unit. On January 31, 2025, the department helped the New York State Police‘s Computer Crimes Unit and the SP Clarence’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrest the Amherst man.

Collectively, the seven suspects collectively face a total of 25 felony charges. In particular, Testa was charged with production of child sexual abuse material and our counts of solicitation of a minor.

Testa was booked into the Erie County Correctional Facility in Alden, Erie County. He will be extradited to Virginia.
