Varinthorn Phadoongvithee (วรินทร ผดุงวิถี) represented Thailand in the 50th edition of Miss Universe. It was won by Puerto Rico’s Denise Quiñones.

Thailand was represented in Miss Universe by Miss Thailand Universe from 2000 to 2011. Miss Universe Thailand started in 2012.

In 2001, Varinthorn became the second beauty queen to represent Thailand in Miss Universe. She is the first Nonthaburi, Thailand native to represent the country in the international beauty pageant.
