Derrick Lamar Taylor, Jr. is a suspect in a murder case stemming from an incident that occurred in Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland, United States in October 2024. Whether or not he is a resident of the city is unclear.

Hagerstown is the country seat of Washington County. The city is around 20 miles away from Hedgesville, Berkeley County, West Virginia, USA.

Warrants for Taylor’s arrest were issued out of Washington County. Upon receipt of the case, the U.S. Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force developed information that he was residing in Hedgesville.

On the morning of February 26, 2025, the special weapons and tactics (SWAT) team of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on a residence located on Thrower Road in Hedgesville. Initially, Taylor barricaded himself inside the residence.

Eventually, Taylor surrendered to the SWAT team and members of the U.S. Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force without further incident. He was booked into the Eastern Regional Jail in Martinsburg, Berkeley County.

Taylor was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder. He was charged as a fugitive from justice.

Authorities have yet to release Taylor’s mugshot. There are also no details about his age and his alleged victim.
