On multiple occasions, Abdul-Malik directed the girl to have sex buyer payments sent to a Zelle account he controlled. He would confirm receipt of the money and keep all of the profits after the buyer sent the payment.
On December 11, 2024, law enforcement officers received information that the girl was being advertised for commercial sex acts online in the Boston area. They went undercover and responded to the advertisement and the responding telephone number arranged for a commercial sex date at a hotel in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
The officers recovered the girl and seized her iPhone as evidence. They searched the phone and found messages from Abdul-Malik about her engaging in commercial sex acts with sex buyers.
Immediately after the undercover operation, Abdul-Malik fled the Boston area. He purchased an airline ticket to fly from Boston to San Jose on a flight that departed at 6:00 a.m. on December 12, 2024.
On March 10, 2025, FBI agents arrested Abdul-Malik in California. He made his initial appearance in the Northern District of California at the Phillip Burton Federal Building and United States Courthouse in San Francisco, California.
Abdul-Malik was charged with sex trafficking a minor. He will soon appear in federal court in Boston.
