Who is Stivenson Perez?
Stivenson Omar Perez Ajtzalan, 19, of Guatemala is not a citizen of the United States. He is illegally in the U.S.
While in the U.S., Perez allegedly sexually assaulted a child, then 9, of Massachusetts, USA. On December 20, 2024, he was arraigned in the Lawrence District Court in Lawrence, Massachusetts on felony charges of aggravated rape of a child with a 10-year age difference.
On January 30, 2025, Perez was arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Based in Washington, D.C., USA, the ICE is under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Based in Arlington County, Virginia, USA, the DEA is under the U.S. Department of Justice.
Sources told Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin that the Lawrence District Court released Perez into the community without informing the ICE first. Because of the immediate release of the Guatemalan man, the ICE was not able to file a detainer.
After Perez’s arrest, he was given a notice to appear for a U.S. Department of Justice immigration judge. He was placed into removal proceedings, according to the ICE field office in Boston, Massachusetts.
Perez remains in ICE custody. He must be “made to face the consequences of his actions” after coming to the U.S. to do hard, said Patricia H. Hyde, the acting director of the ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) field office in Boston.
