Iceland currently has six Miss Universe placement including the first runner-up finish of Anna Geirsdóttir in 1962. The most recent one was in 2019 when Birta Abiba Þórhallsdóttir finished in the Top 10.

Moreover, Iceland has five Miss Supranational placements including the third runner-up finish of Tanja Ýr Ástþórsdóttir in 2015. The most recent one was on July 6, 2024 when Helena O’Connor finished in the Top 25.

In 2024, Iceland made its Miss Earth debut. Representing the European country, Ungfru island 2022 Hrafnhildur Haraldsdóttir ranked second at Miss Earth 2024 and was crowned Miss Earth-Air 2024.

Sóldís Vala Ívarsdóttir was crowned Miss Universe Iceland 2024 at Ungfrú Ísland 2024 at Gamla Bíó in Reykjavik, Iceland on August 14, 2024. The respective first, second, third and fourth runners-up were Emilia Pora Olafsdottir of Grindavik, Valeríja Rjabchuk of Reykjavik, Erika Lif Karadottir of Kópavogur and Harpa Ros Jonsdottir of Þingvellir.

On November 16, 2024, Ívarsdóttir represented Iceland at Miss Universe 2024 and competed against 124 other candidates at the Arena Ciudad de México in Azcapotzalco, Mexico City, Mexico. She was unplaced.

On April 3, 2025, Ívarsdóttir will crown her successor at Gamla Bíó in Reykjavik. It is the 52nd edition of the national beauty pageant that selects Iceland’s Miss Universe and Miss Supranational candidates.
