Mata is a Filipino-Hawaiian digital marketing specialist and beauty queen with a bachelor’s degree in performing arts with a minor in biology. Hailing from Hilo, Hawaii, she attended Kamehameha Schools in Honolulu, Hawaii, California State University, Chico in Chico, California, USA and the University of Hawaii at Hilo in Hilo.

A former resident of Torrance, California, Issha is Hawaiian musician Gavien Mata and Jessie Mata‘s daughter. Gavien is one of James “Kimo” Mata and Donna Mata‘s seven children.
