Zambia has yet to place in Miss Universe. Elizabeth Mwanza, Tamara Kalube and Sidonia Mwape won Miss Universe Zambia in 1993, 1996 and 2000, respectively, but did not compete in Miss Universe.
The first Miss Universe candidates from Zambia are Luo Trica Punabantu in 1995 and Esanju Kalopa in 1999. Under Wendy Chandra-Fornari‘s directorship, the country was represented in the beauty pageant by Cynthia Kanema in 2005, Mofya Nickoleta Chisenga in 2006, Rosemary Chileshe in 2007, Andella Chileshe Matthews in 2009 and Alice Rowlands Musukwa in 2010.
Under Musukwa’s directorship, Zambia was represented in Miss Universe by Isabel Chikoti in 2017 and Melba Shakabozha in 2018. Didia Mukwala won Miss Universe Zambia 2019 but did not compete at Miss Universe 2019 due to lack of sponsorships.
Miss Universe Zambia 2024
After not participating in Miss Universe from 2019 to 2023, Zambia made a comeback in 2024 with PR Media Girl as the new franchise holder and its managing partner Chishimba Nyambe as the national director. On September 15, 2024, Brandina Lubuli was crowned Miss Universe Zambia 2024 at EastPark Mall’s The Music Club in Lusaka, Zambia.
A total of 12 candidates competed for the title. Runner-up to Lubuli was Sheila Singelengele while Wana Kasochi was the second runner-up.
Miss Universe Zambia 2025
In January 2025, PR Media Girl gave up the Miss Universe Zambia franchise and in the same month, Musukwa took over. On April 20, 2025, Lubuli’s successor will be crowned at the Mulungushi International Conference Center in Lusaka.
It is the 15th edition of the national beauty pageant that selects Zambia’s Miss Universe candidate. This edition will also choose the country’s Miss World, Miss Supranational and Miss Grand International candidates.
There are 22 women competing for the Miss Universe Zambia 2025 crown. If facial beauty is the only criterion, these will be my Top 5 candidates:
