Jaime Arriaga Pedroza, 41, of Downey, Los Angeles County, California, United States is a Catholic priest. He was initially a deacon before joining the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, which comprises California’s Los Angeles County, Santa Barbara County and Ventura County.
Archdiocese of Los Angeles
From 1985 to 2011, Roger Michael Mahony served as the archbishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. On July 16, 2007, he and the archdiocese reached a settlement worth $660 million with 508 alleged victims of sexual abuse by priests.
In 2011, José Horacio Gómez Velasco became the fifth archbishop of the archdiocese. In 2014, the archdiocese agreed to pay $13 million to settle 17 sex abuse lawsuits.
From May 2019 to December 2019, the archdiocese provided documents to California state attorney Xavier Becerra in preparation for a series of pending lawsuits and in January 2020, the archdiocese settled a sexual abuse case against a former archdiocesan priest for $1.9 million. On October 16, 2024, the archdiocese reached a $880 million settlement over 1,354 child sexual abuse claims.

In January 2024, Arriaga joined Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Downey and Saint Louis of France Catholic Church in La Puente, Los Angeles County as a priest. On June 1, 2024, he was ordained as a priest.
On March 22, 2025, Arriaga allegedly sexually abused a girl. On April 2, 2025, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles received a report on the allegation.
On April 3, 2025, Arriaga was arrested. He was charged with eight felony counts related to sexual abuse including assault and lewd acts on a child.
On April 7, 2025, Arriaga was arraigned and he pleaded not guilty to the charges. On April 8, 2025, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles was removed from ministry at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Downey.
On June 5, 2025, Arriaga will appear in Los Angeles Municipal Court in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County. He is being held without bail at the Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles.
