“I am having a panic attack right now and have a painful urge to scream at the world right now and I love it all,” McIntire wrote on social media in March 2023. “I don’t know how to think I can’t think about it every time I look at the news it’s something new and awful and this goddammed school bill has broken me and the labor laws and the cop city and project willow and roe v wade and I just need to spill out here so I don’t go insane with rage and fear I need to know someone sees this everything that is happening.”

McIntire is accused of concocting two homemade incendiary devices. While home for spring break, the UMass Boston student allegedly drove to a Tesla dealership in Kansas City on March 17, 2025.

At around 11:16 p.m. that day, McIntire allegedly hurled two Molotov cocktails at a Cybertruck in the dealership. One of the two bottle bombs exploded, causing a fire, while the other one remained complete intact and was recovered by investigators.

Two Tesla charging stations were damaged in the blaze, which spread to another Cybertruck. The pair of Cybertrucks cost $105,485 and $107,495 and the two charging stations cost $550 each.

A Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department (KCMOPD) officer in the vicinity observed an unbroken suspected incendiary device near the burning Cybertruck. The Kansas City Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.

On April 18, 2025, McIntire was arrested. He was charged with unlawful possession of an unregistered destructive device and malicious damage by fire of any property used in interstate commerce.
