Latrance Battle
On December 15, 2020, Battle registered to vote in Florida. On August 1, 2024, she turned 52.
In 2022, Battle allegedly showed up at her former boyfriend Marlon Tharpe‘s work and attacked him so he filed a restraining order against her. Two years later, Battle allegedly pretended to be a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent.
ICE is under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. On March 9, 2025, Todd M. Lyons assumed office as the acting director of ICE.
Tharpe is married to Merika Senior. While in the process of becoming a legal U.S. resident, she worked at a hotel chain in the Florida panhandle.
On April 10, 2025, Battle showed up to the hotel where Senior was working. When Senior asked if Battle needed a room, the latter unzipped her jacket to reveal a shirt that had ICE printed on the front.
Battle told Senior she was there to pick her up and presented a business card appearing to show she worked for a sheriff’s office. The hotel employee contacted her boss before going with the Panama City woman.
Senior believed she was talking to a real ICE agent and willingly got in the vehicle of Battle, who said they were going to the sheriff’s office. The latter spoke into a hand-held radio as she drove.
When Senior tried to call her husband and her lawyer, her phone was snatched from her hand by Battle, who said she could make a call at the sheriff’s office. Battle allegedly said Senior has to “suffer the consequences of her husband’s actions” then took her to the Bridge Plaza Apartments in Panama City Beach where she said more ICE agents would be waiting.
According to Senior, Battle went into one unit and was making a lot of noise. That was when Senior took the chance to escape and knock on the window of the apartment of a male neighbor, who allowed her to hide in his apartment until law enforcement arrived.
However, Battle left the apartment complex. On April 11, 2025, Bay County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested her while she was fleeing to Alabama.
Bond for Battle was set at $25,000. She was charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer in the commission of a felony, kidnapping in commission of a felony, robbery by sudden snatching and felony violation of probation.
On April 12, 2025, Battle appeared in court. On May 29, 2025, she will be back in court.
