On January 1, 2018, the Journal of the Society for Social Work and Research published “Integrated Primary Care and Social Work: A Systematic Review”. It was authored by Mark W. Fraser, Brianna M. Lombardi, Lisa de Saxe Zerden, Erica L. Richman, Erin P. Fraher and Wu.
The Arizona State University was a key sponsor of the APISWEA’s international conference in Chengdu, Sichuan, China from May 31, 2024 to June 3, 2024. Wu chaired the conference, which was attended by educators from 12 countries.
While employed as an Arizona State University professor, Wu was accused of arranging a meetup for sex with someone he thought was 15 years old. Unbeknownst to the professor, he was actually communicating with an officer with the police department of Chandler, Maricopa County, Arizona.
The undercover officer used photos generated by artificial intelligence to pose as a 15-year-old boy on an online dating app. The officer received a message from an account tied to Wu.
After Wu was told he was chatting with a boy aged 15, the professor continued speaking with the purported teenage boy. The professor sent a sexual photo and started asking questions related to sex.
When the professor asked for the location of who he believed was a teenage boy, the undercover officer sent an address to an apartment complex in Chandler. The professor borrowed a large sport utility vehicle from his roommate and used it to go to the location.
On the way to the apartment, Wu stopped at a store and bought alcohol. He was arrested by detectives as soon as he arrived at the apartment.
The professor refused to speak with the detectives and requested an attorney. He was charged with child sex trafficking and aggravated luring of a minor for sexual exploitation.
