The Philippines was represented in Miss Universe by Miss Philippines from 1952 to 1963 and Binibining Pilipinas-Universe from 1964 to 2019. The inaugural Miss Universe Philippines was held in 2020 in Baguio City, Philippines, one of the places Armi Kuusela visited while she was reigning as the inaugural Miss Universe in 1952.
Miss Universe 2011 third runner-up Shamcey Supsup-Lee served as the national director of Miss Universe Philippines from 2020 to 2023. She was replaced by Jonas Gaffud in 2024 and Miss Universe 2013 third runner-up Ariella Arida in 2025.
Currently, the Philippines currently has 27 Miss Universe placements including the coronations of Gloria Diaz in 1969, Margarita Moran in 1973, Pia Wurtzbach in 2015 and Catriona Gray in 2018. The most recent one was in 2024 when Chelsea Manalo finished in the Top 30.
Miss Universe Philippines 2024
On May 22, 2024, Manalo represented Bulacan at Miss Universe Philippines 2024, competed against 52 other candidates at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines and won. The respective first, second, third and fourth runners-up were Stacey Gabriel of Cainta, Ahtisa Manalo of Quezon Province, Tarah Valencia of Baguio City and Christi McGarry of Taguig.
On November 16, 2024, Manalo represented the Philippines at Miss Universe 2024 and competed against 124 other candidates at the Arena Ciudad de México in Azcapotzalco, Mexico City, Mexico. Aside from finishing in the Top 30, she was also crowned Miss Universe Asia 2024.
Miss Universe Philippines 2025
On May 2, 2025, Manalo will crown her successor at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. It is the sixth edition of the national beauty pageant that selects the Philippines’ Miss Universe candidate and its first edition under the directorship of Ariella Arida.
