Operation Lights Out

The Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is housed within the Child Exploitation And Computer Crimes Unit (CEACCU) at the GBI. From April 25-27, 2025, the task force, the GBI and the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office conducted Operation Lights Out, a human trafficking operation involving online sexual predators.

Also involved in the operation were Homeland Security Investigations, the U.S. Secret Service, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Criminal Investigations Division of the U.S. Army. The police departments of Polk County, Georgia and Gwinnett County, Georgia and the respective offices of the sheriffs of Georgia’s Cherokee County, Colquitt County, Forsyth County and Jasper County participated, as well.

Kevin Obiuyi Edosomwan, 38, of Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia, Darnell Brooks, age 40, of Box Springs, Talbot County, Georgia and 17 other men were arrested. They are accused of engaging in sexually explicit online conversations with minors, arranging in-person meetings to commit sexual acts and traveling with the intent to exploit both boys and girls.

Edosmwan is a heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) technician. He was charged with the violation of Computer or Electronic Pornography and Child Exploitation Prevention Act of 2007.

Brooks is a laborer. He was charged with human trafficking.

This is not the first time Edosomwan was arrested. On July 11, 2013, he allegedly entered the entered the Coastal Bank branch at 18 West Bryan Street in Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia and handed the bank teller a demand note stating that he had a gun.

After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, Edosomwan allegedly departed the bank without further incident. On July 12, 2013, he was charged with bank robbery by Federal Bureau of Investigation agents.

At the time, Edosomwan was a resident of Savannah. Aside from Atlanta and Savannah, he has lived in other parts of Georgia including Norcross, Stockbridge and Stone Mountain.
