Born in Houston, Texas, United States, R’Bonney Gabriel is the ninth and most recent Miss Universe from the U.S. The country won the international beauty pageant via Miriam Stevenson in 1954, Carol Morris in 1956, Linda Bement in 1960, Sylvia Hitchcock in 1967, Shawn Weatherly in 1980, Chelsi Smith in 1995, Brook Lee in 1997, Olivia Culpo in 2012 and Gabriel in the 2022 edition.

Currently, Texas is the U.S. state with the most Miss USA placements with 57. The state won the title via Kimberly Tomes in 1977, Laura Martinez Herring in 1985, Christy Fichtner in 1986, Michelle Royer in 1987, Courtney Gibbs in 1988, Gretchen Polhemus in 1989, Chelsi Smith in 1995, Kandace Krueger in 2001, Crystle Stewart in 2008 and Gabriel in the 2022 edition.

Miss Texas USA 2024

On June 22, 2024, Aarienna Ware of Dallas competed against 73 other Miss Texas USA 2024 candidates at Hilton Houston Post Oak Hotel in Houston. She won the title.

Runner-up to Ware was Francie Millan of San Antonio. The respective second, third and fourth runners-up were Mary Sickler of Houston, Fallon Williams of Tanglewood and Preslie Watson of Metroplex.

On August 4, 2024, Ware represented Texas at Miss USA 2024 and competed against 50 other candidates at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California, USA. She finished in the Top 10.

Miss Texas USA 2025

On May 3, 2025, Ware will go back to Hilton Houston Post Oak Hotel to crown her successor. It is the 74th edition of the state-level beauty pageant that selects Texas’s candidate for Miss USA, which selects the Miss Universe candidate of the U.S.
