Troy McHugh, 51, of Gray, Cumberland County was U.S. Army veteran Susan Michelle Boyce Frechette McHugh‘s husband. She was a promoter of hardcore punk and metal shows.
On June 30, 2024, Susan turned 54. On July 30, 2024, she was in Portland with Troy.
That day, Susan was fatally shot in the chest during a dispute between members of the motorcycle clubs The Outlaws and Higher Calling near Morrill’s Corner in Portland. Troy, Haken and William Edward “Bill” Holmes, then 48, of Yarmouth, Maine were injured during the shooting.
Haken is accused of being involved in the shooting. So are Aaron Karp, 46, of Naples, Cumberland County, Caleb Pelkey, 33, of Portland, James Moody, 30, of Bowdoin, Sagadahoc County, Maine, Jason Kennan, 45, of Bath, Sagadahoc County, Kaleb Cidre, 22, of Windham, Cumberland County and Nathan Walsh, 48, of Lewiston, Androscoggin County, Maine.
The six suspects are each charged with one count of conspiracy to commit elevated aggravated assault and two counts of elevated aggravated assault.

Stemming from the shooting incident, the Portland Maine Police Department issued a warrant for Haken’s arrest in November 2024. He was charged with one count of conspiracy to commit elevated aggravated assault and two counts of elevated aggravated assault.
In April 2025, Haken was arrested in Vermont, USA as a fugitive from justice. He was released after posting bail with a promise to appear in court.
However, Haken did not show up for his court appearance in Vermont. A warrant for his arrest was issued by the police department of Hartford, Windsor County, Vermont.
On May 6, 2025, the U.S. Marshals Service in Maine obtained a federal arrest warrant for Haken that charged him with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. On May 7, 2025, he surrendered to New Hampshire Probation and Parole.
Haken was transported to a New Hampshire correctional facility. He will be extradited to Maine.
