Gabriella Magnusson is a Swedish-Jamaican model from a small town in Sweden. She is 19 years younger than Joel Kinnaman, a Swedish-American actor born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden.

In January 2020, Kinnaman and Swedish-Australian model Kelly Gale announced their engagement. On August 5, 2021, he took Instagram to explain his past involving Magnusson.

“Earlier this morning, I filed a restraining order against a woman who has been threatening to physically harm me and my family and loved ones, and attempting to extort money and others things of value from me,” Kinnaman wrote. “While it is mortifying and scary to come forward about all of this, what feels worse is enduring the escalating daily threats to go to the press with fabricated, vile rumors unless I agree to a list of demands that includes money, Hollywood connections, helping to secure a work visa, a verified Instagram page, a Wikipedia page, a photoshoot with Sports Illustrated, an additional $400,000 USD for an apartment and more. And so, I want to share the facts with you, honestly and directly.”

“In late 2018, when I was single, I had a brief romantic relationship with a woman named Gabriella Magnusson, a Swedish model who goes by the name of Bella Davis,” Kinnaman continued. “In November 2018, we met up in New York and had consensual sex. The next month, in December 2018, we again met up in New York and had consensual sex but did not spend the night together because I had to get up early the following morning for work. The next day she texted me that she was bothered that I had not asked her to spend the night and that I did not check with her to make sure she made it home safely.”

“In 2019 and 2020, Bella resumed contact with me, asking to meet up and sending sexually explicit content, but I was in a relationship at this point, so I did not respond,” Kinnaman added.”Given her increasingly obsessive communications, I felt it was best to cut off all communication with her. But Bella continued to try to communicate with me – texting and calling from other people’s phones – and these communications became more and more antagonistic, threatening, and frightening over time. Since then, her threats of violence against me and my loved ones have become so serious and specific that I felt i had no choice but to seek a restraining order. I want to be VERY clear so there is no misunderstanding: I stand by all victims of sexual assault. That is not what occurred here. This was consensual sex. And now it is an attempt to extort. More importantly – this is a threat to the safety of my family and loved ones, which will always be my top priority.”

2021

• In March 2021, she travelled to Dubai, UAE.
• On July 25, 2021, she and Kinnaman had a  lengthy telephone conversation, which she knew was being recorded. In the conversation, she more than once acknowledged that their sexual encounters were consensual she reiterated her threat to tell the media that it was against her will unless he met her demands, according to him. 
• On August 5, 2021, Kinnaman filed for a temporary restraining order against her, which was granted on August 6, 2021. On the same day, she took to Instagram to share a photo of herself and tagged Chris Brown.
• In a statement to People on August 11, 2021, she accused Kinnaman of raping her and denied having ever threatened or asked for money. It was confirmed that day that they filed police complaints against each other in Sweden. She accused him of rape and aggravated defamation and he accused her of attempted blackmail.

2022

• On May 29, 2022, Virpi Alajarva, the prosecutor in Skövde, Sweden, closed the preliminary investigations into the aggravated defamation case she filed against Kinnaman and the attempted blackmail he filed against her while the rape case she filed against him was still ongoing, Dagens Juridik reported.
• On October 7, 2022, Alajarva closed the preliminary investigation into the rape case she filed against Kinnaman because it was possible to prove that he has committed a crime based on the available investigative material. Her defense attorney Elisabeth Massi Fritz told Aftonbladet it was unfortunate that the available evidence was considered insufficient while his defense attorney Johan Eriksson told the publication that it went exactly as expected.
