Aurora is one of the seven provinces of the Central Luzon region of the Philippines. The others are Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac and Zambales.

Rommel Rico Teh Angara served as the vice governor of Aurora from June 30, 2013 to June 30, 2019. His cousin Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Manalang Angara has been the Philippines’ secretary of education since July 19, 2024.

Since June 30, 2019, Rommel has been the congressman of Aurora. Born in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines, he turned 46 on December 19, 2024.

On May 12, 2025, Aurora elected its new congressman, governor, vice governor and provincial board members. The province has two provincial districts.

Aurora has eight municipalities namely Baler, Casiguran, Dilasag, Dinalungan, Dingalan, Dipaculao, Maria Aurora and San Luis. The province has a total of 151 barangays, 13 of which are in Baler, the capital of the province.

Athena Mae Duarte Imperial was born in Legazpi, Albay, Philippines and raised in Casiguran. On June 5, 2011, she represented Casiguran at Miss Philippines Earth 2011, competed against 47 other candidates at the Puerto Princesa Coliseum in Puerto Princesa, Philippines and won the title.

On December 3, 2011, Imperial represented the Philippines at Miss Earth 2011 and competed against 83 other candidates at the University of the Philippines Theater in Diliman, Quezon City. She ranked third and was crowned Miss Earth-Water 2011.
