2025 Butuan mayor, vice mayor, councilors elected

Butuan is the only independent city in the Caraga Administrative Region of the Philippines. The region has five provinces namely Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, the Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur.

While Butuan is geographically located in Agusan del Norte, the city is independent from the province. The city is around 29 kilometers away from Cabadbaran, the capital of the province.

2025 Butuan election results

On May 12, 2025, Butuan elected its new mayor, vice mayor and councilors. The city has 220,694 registered voters.

Butuan native Riemon Lapaza was one of the 349 cyclists who finished the 2022 Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Gravel World Series Philippines race in Bongabon, Nueva Ecija, Philippines on April 3, 2022. He clocked 3:06:46.7 and finished first.

On April 28, 2025, Jacinth Ziff represented Butuan at Mister Pilipinas Worldwide 2025 and competed against 25 other candidates at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. He was unplaced.

On May 2, 2025, Jadine Lezz Banagan represented Butuan at Miss Universe Philippines 2025 and competed against 65 other candidates at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. She was unplaced.
