Camiguin is one of the five provinces of the Northern Mindanao region of the Philippines. The others are Bukidnon, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental and Lanao del Norte.
Jurdin Jesus “JJ” Modina Romualdo served as the governor of Camiguin from June 30, 2007 to June 30, 2016 and from June 30, 2019 to June 30, 2022. Since June 30, 2022, he has been the congressman of the province, a position he held from June 30, 1998 to June 30, 2007.
In 2022, Romualdo joined Lakas–Christian Muslim Democrats. Born in Manila, Metro Manila, Philippines, he turned 64 on July 26, 2024.

On May 12, 2025, Camiguin elected its new congressman, governor, vice governor and provincial board members. The province has two provincial districts.

Camiguin has five municipalities namely Catarman, Guinsiliban, Mahinog, Mambajao and Sagay. Collectively, these municipalities have 58 barangays, 15 of which are in Mambajao, the capital of the province.
On May 22, 2024, Rethiana Rosy represented Camiguin at Miss Universe Philippines 2024 and competed against 52 other candidates at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila. She was unplaced.
On July 7, 2024, Maria Abegail Jajalla represented Camiguin at Binibining Pilipinas 2024 and competed against 39 other candidates at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Metro Manila. She was unplaced.
On May 2, 2025, Larsine Grace Jensen represented Camiguin at Miss Universe Philippines 2025 and competed against 65 other candidates at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. She was unplaced.
