Joaquin Carlos “JC” Rahman Araño Nava served as the congressman of Guimaras, Philippines from June 30, 2007 to June 30, 2016. He was succeeded by his wife Maria Lucille Nava.
On June 30, 2022, JC assumed office again as the governor of Guimaras, a position he held from June 30, 1998 to June 30, 2007. On November 19, 2024, he turned 62.
JC and Lucille are residents of Jordan, Guimaras. On June 30, 2025, they will assume office as the province’s governor and congresswoman, respectively.

On May 22, 1992, Guimaras became an independent province. On May 12, 2025, the province elected its new congressman, governor, vice governor and provincial board members.

Guimaras has five municipalities namely Buenavista, Jordan, Nueva Valencia, San Lorenzo and Sibunag. These five municipalities collectively have 98 barangays, 14 of which are in Jordan, the capital of the province.
On July 15, 2017, Madelle Estaya represented Nueva Valencia at Miss Philippines Earth 2017 and competed against 39 other candidates at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila. She was unplaced but she won the Miss Friendship award.
On May 13, 2023, Vanessa Mella Tse Wing represented Guimaras at Miss Universe Philippines 2023 and competed against 37 other candidates at the same venue. She was unplaced.
On July 19, 2024, Kara Athena de Leon represented Guimaras at Miss World Philippines 2024 and competed against 32 other candidates at the same venue. She was unplaced.
