Kalinga is one of the six provinces of the Cordillera Administrative Region of the Philippines. Tabuk is the only city in the province, which has seven municipalities namely Balbalan, Lubuagan, Pasil, Pinukpuk, Rizal, Tanudan and Tinglayan.

Glennifer Duggay Plerido represented Tabuk at Miss Philippines Earth 2012, ranked second and was crowned Miss Philippines Air 2012. She was crowned Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism International 2014 when she represented the Cordillera Administrative Region at Mutya ng Pilipinas 2014 and was the second runner-up when she represented the Philippines at Miss Tourism International 2014.

On August 16, 2014, Apple Ann Bartolome represented Kalinga at Miss Grand Philippines 2014 and competed against 16 other candidates at the GT-Toyota Asian Cultural Center in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines. She finished in the Top 10.

On October 25, 2020, Noreen Victoria Mangawit represented Kalinga at Miss Universe Philippines 2020 and competed against 55 other candidates at Cordillera Convention Hall of Baguio Country Club in Baguio City, Philippines. She was unplaced.

In April 2023, Tinglayan native Whang-od Oggay graced the cover of Vogue Philippines, making her the oldest living person to ever be on a Vogue cover. On February 17, 2025, she turned 108.
