Lanao del Norte is one of the five provinces in the Northern Mindanao region of the Philippines. Mohamad Khalid Quibranza Dimaporo was born in Tubod, the capital of the province, to Abdullah Dimakuta Dimaporo and Imelda “Angging” dela Cruz Quibranza Dimaporo.
The governor of Lanao del Norte was Abdullah’s father Mohammad Ali Dimaporo from 1960 to 1965 and Angging’s father Arsenio A. Quibranza from 1965 to 1986. The position was held by Francisco L. Abalos from 1986 to 1992, Abdullah from 1992 to 1998, Angging from 1998 to 2007 and Khalid from 2007 to 2016.
On June 30, 2016, Angging assumed office as the governor of Lanao del Norte. On June 30, 2025, she will be succeeded by Khalid.

On May 12, 2025, Lanao del Norte elected its new congressmen, governor, vice governor and provincial board members. A total of 324,218 of the 364,211 registered voters of the province cast their votes.

Representing Kauswagan, Danielle Mckaye Dela Cruz was selected as one of the 20 semifinalists among the 38 Miss Philippines Earth 2022 candidates. However, she withdrew from the competition before the coronation ceremony at Tag Resort in Coron, Palawan, Philippines on August 6, 2022.
