Agustín Salamante, the first mayor of Malabon, Metro Manila, Philippines, was originally from Cavite, Philippines. When Loren Legarda was born in the city, it was still a municipality of Rizal, Philippines.
On November 7, 1975, Malabon became part of Metro Manila. Legarda served as a senator of the Philippines from 1998 to 2004 and from 2007 to 2019 and was reelected in 2022.
Jeannie Sandoval served as the Malabon vice mayor from 2013 to 2019 and was elected the mayor of the city in 2022. Also in 2022, Chelsea Manalo graduated from the De La Salle Araneta University in Potrero, Malabon.
On November 16, 2024, Manalo represented the Philippines at Miss Universe 2024 and competed against 124 candidates at the Arena Ciudad de México (Arena CDMX) in Azcapotzalco, Mexico City. She finished in the Top 30 and was crowned Miss Universe Asia 2024.
