The Asian Development Bank is headquartered in Mandaluyong, Metro Manila, Philippines. Founded on December 19, 1966, the bank maintains 31 field offices around the world.

Benjamin “Benjie” Santos Abalos Sr. served as the mayor of Mandaluyong from 1986 to 1987 and from 1988 to 1998 and was reelected in 2022. His daughter-in-law Carmelita “Menchie” Aguilar Abalos served as the city’s mayor from 2016 to 2022 and became its vice mayor in 2022.

On March 22, 1981, Menchie represented Cavite, Philippines at Binibining Pilipinas 1981 and competed against 31 other candidates at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Metro Manila. She was unplaced.

On September 30, 2021, Maria Corazon Abalos represented Mandaluyong at Miss Universe Philippines 2021 and competed against 27 other candidates at the Henann Resort Convention Center of Alona Beach in Panglao, Bohol, Philippines. She finished in the Top 10.

On May 13, 2023, Iman Franchesca Cristal represented Mandaluyong at Miss Universe Philippines 2023 and competed against 37 other candidates at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila. She finished in the Top 18.
