Marinduque, Philippines has six municipalities namely Boac, Buenavista, Gasan, Mogpog, Santa Cruz and Torrijos. The capital of the province is Boac.
Presbitero Jose Velasco Jr. served as the governor of Marinduque from 2019 to 2025. He unsuccessfully ran for congressman of the province in 2025.
Born in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines, Velasco served as an associate justice of the Philippine Court of Appeals from 1998 to 2003 and an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines from 2006 to 2018. On August 8, 2024, he turned 76.

On May 12, 2025, Marinduque elected its new congressman, governor, vice governor and provincial board members. The six municipalities of the province collectively have 218 barangays.

On September 20, 2021, Simone Nadine Bornilla represented Marinduque at Miss Universe Philippines 2021 and competed against 27 other candidates at the Henann Resort Convention Center of Alona Beach in Panglao, Bohol, Philippines. She was unplaced.
On May 13, 2023, Christine Joyce Salcedo represented Marinduque at Miss Universe Philippines 2023 and competed against 37 other candidates at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. She finished in the Top 18.
