Nueva Vizcaya is one of the five provinces of the Cagayan Valley region of the Philippines. The others are Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Ecija and Quirino.

With a total area of 4,813.88 square kilometers, Nueva Vizcaya has 15 municipalities namely Alfonso Castañeda, Ambaguio, Aritao, Bagabag, Bambang, Bayombong, Diadi, Dupax del Norte, Dupax del Sur, Kasibu, Kayapa, Quezon, Santa Fe, Solano and Villaverde. The municipalities collectively have 275 barangays, 25 of which are in Bayombong, the capital of the province.

Dupax del Norte native Carlos Mapili Padilla served as the governor of Nueva Vizcaya from June 30, 2016 until his death. He turned 78 on September 19, 2022 and fied in Solano on May 5, 2023.

Born in Solano, Jose “Jing” Valeriano Gambito served as the vice governor of Nueva Vizcaya from June 30, 2004 to June 30, 2013 and from June 30, 2022 to May 5, 2023. He took over as the governor of the province upon Padilla’s death.
