Palawan, Philippines is home to several indigenous groups including Batak, Palaw’an, Tagbanwa and Tau’t Bato. Puerto Princesa is geographically located in the province but is independent from the province.
Excluding Puerto Princesa, Palawan has a total land area of 14,649.73 square kilometers, making it the largest province in the Philippines. Puerto Princesa, which has a land area of 2,381.02 km², is included in the third congressional district of the province.

On May 22, 2024, Raven Hate Doctor represented Palawan at Miss Universe Philippines 2024 and competed against 52 other candidates at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. She finished in the Top 20.
