Quirino, Philippines was named after Elpidio Rivera Quirino, who served as the sixth president of the country from April 17, 1948 to December 30, 1953. Born in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he turned 65 on November 16, 1955 and died in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines on February 29, 1956.

Dakila Carlo “Dax” Enriquez Cua was born in Quezon City to Junie Cua and Maria Angela Enriquez Cua. Junie served as congressman of Quirino from 1987 to 1998 and from 2001 to 2010 and the governor of the province from 2010 to 2019 while Maria was the congresswoman of the province from 1998 to 2001.

In 2011, Dax and Midy Nacague Cua got married. They have three children together.

After serving as the congressman of Quirino from 2010 to 2019, Dax was elected as the governor of the province in 2019 and reelected 2022 and in 2025. Midy was elected as the congresswoman of the province in 2022 and reelected in 2025.

2025 Quirino election results

On May 12, 2025, Quirino elected its new congressman, governor, vice governor and provincial board members. The province has six municipalities namely Aglipay, Cabarroguis, Diffun, Maddela, Nagtipunan and Saguday.

On May 11, 2024, Jonalyn Balauro represented Aglipay at Miss Philippines Earth 2024 and competed against 28 other candidates at the Talakag Covered Court in Talakag, Bukidnon, Philippines. She was unplaced.

On May 2, 2025, Bianca Ysabella Rei Ylanan represented Quirino at Miss Universe Philippines 2025 and competed against 65 other candidates at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila. She finished in the Top 12.
