Siquijor is one of the three provinces in the Negros Island Region of the Philippines. When the region was established on May 29, 2015, it only included the provinces of Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental and the city of Bacolod.

On August 9, 2017, the region was abolished. When it was reestablished on June 11, 2024, Siquijor was added as one of its provinces.

Founded on September 17, 1971, Siquijor was once called Katugasan. The Spaniards called it the Isla del Fuego during the Spanish colonial period of the Philippines from 1565 to 1898.
