Born in Botolan, Zambales, Philippines, Potenciano Lesaca y García graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines in 1898 with a bachelor’s degree in commerce. He served as the first governor of Zambales from 1901 to 1903.

From September 16, 1935 to December 30, 1938, Lesaca represented Zambales in the National Assembly of the Philippines, which was disbanded on June 18, 1940. He turned 70 on January 1, 1941 and passed away on October 4, 1941.

Sambal, Ilocano and Tagalog are the main languages of Zambales. The province has 13 municipalities namely Botolan, Cabangan, Candelaria, Castillejos, Iba, Masinloc, Palauig, San Antonio, San Felipe, San Marcelino, San Narciso, Santa Cruz and Subic.

On May 13, 2023, Christine Juliane Hinkle Opiaza represented Zambales at Miss Universe Philippines 2023 and competed against 37 other candidates at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila. She ranked fourth and was named the first runner-up.

On September 29, 2024, Opiaza represented Castillejos at Miss Grand Philippines 2024 and competed against 19 other candidates at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City. She won the title.

On October 25, 2024, Opiaza represented the Philippines at Miss Grand International 2024 and competed against 67 other candidates at the MGI Hall in Bangkok, Thailand. She was runner-up to Rachel Gupta of India.
