The Zamboanga Peninsula region of the Philippines has three provinces namely Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga Sibugay. Collectively, the three provinces have 2,314 barangays.

Zamboanga del Norte has two cities namely Dapitan and Dipolog and 25 municipalities. On May 12, 2025, the province elected its new congressmen, governor, vice governor and provincial board members.

The two cities and 25 municipalities of Zamboanga del Norte collectively have 691 barangays, 21 of which are in Dipolog, the capital of the province. Dipolog is around 9.6 kilometers away from Dapitan.

On June 9, 2019, Dapitan native Gazini Christiana Jordi Acopiado Ganados competed against 39 other Binibining Pilipinas 2019 candidates at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines. She ranked first and was crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2019.

On August 6, 2022, Rache Santos represented Dipolog at Miss Philippines Earth 2022 and competed against 33 other candidates at Tag Resort in Coron, Palawan, Philippines. She finished in the Top 20.

On May 11, 2024, Feliz Clareianne Thea Recentes represented Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte at Miss Philippines Earth 2024 and competed against 28 other candidates at the Talakag Gym in Talakag, Bukidnon, Philippines. She ranked second and was crowned Miss Philippines Air 2024.
