Ronald Edward Lidderdale, 39, of New Albany, Franklin County, Ohio, United States has been arrested. He is accused of threatening to kill Ohio public officials.

On June 1, 2010, Lidderdale registered to vote in Franklin County. He is affiliated with the Democratic Party.

From July 2024 to May 2025, Lidderdale allegedly sent at least 65 letters and emails to 34 victims, including public officials, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and WBNS, a television station in Columbus, Ohio. At least 49 of those letters contained suspicious white powders, which at times he allegedly claimed to be Ricin.

On August 20, 2024, Lidderdale turned 39. On February 11, 2025, WBNS received a letter with white powder.

A Hyundai Elantra was caught on video at a post office from which the letter was sent. FBI agents tracked the license plate of the vehicle to Lidderdale. 

On April 22, 2025, Lidderdale allegedly sent a threatening letter to a public official with a 9mm bullet. The last name of the public official was etched on the bullet.

On May 2, 2025, Lidderdale sent a threatening email to the FBI, which responded and offered to talk. He agreed to meet at its office in Columbus where he admitted to sending multiple threats to public officials.

On May 8, 2025, FBI agents arrested Lidderdale and booked him into the Delaware County Jail in Delaware, Delaware County, Ohio. He was charged with cyberstalking, mailing threatening communications, false information and hoaxes and making interstate communications with a threat to kidnap or injure.

On May 9, 2025, Lidderdale appeared in federal court in Columbus. Aside from New Albany, he has lived in other parts of Ohio including Columbus and Magnolia.

Born in Garden City, New York, USA, Kash Patel became the FBI director on February 21, 2025 and turned 45 on February 25, 2025. The bureau is based in Washington, D.C., USA, which is around 395 miles away from New Albany.
