From July 2019 to February 2023, Galyen was a Booz Allen Hamilton software engineer. On February 5, 2022, he was arrested in Virginia for driving while intoxicated.
On August 17, 2022, Galyen was arrested in Virginia for assault and battery against a family or household member and strangulation. In July 2023, he joined Precise Systems as a development, security and operations (DevSecOps) engineer.
At around 10:00 p.m. on May 20, 2025, Galyen allegedly went on a crime spree. He is accused of damaging the automated teller machine of the Land of Lincoln Credit Union on Thelma Keller Boulevard in Effingham.
That evening, Galyen also allegedly broke the glass door of Al’s Tire Mart & Electronics on East Fayette Avenue in Effingham and forcibly entered the electronics store. When Effingham Police Department officers arrived, they spotted him fleeing from the store on foot.
Galyen was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit. As the officers arrested him, they recovered property stolen from the store.
Moreover, investigators tied Galyen to a car fire in the parking lot of a Walmart on Avenue of Mid-America in Effingham. He was booked into the Effingham County Jail in Effingham.
The Fredericksburg man was charged with arson, burglary, criminal damage to property and resisting or obstructing a peace officer. He is being held without bond.
