Rico Ransom, 21, of Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee, United States was arrested again. He has been in legal trouble since he was a minor.

On February 9, 2018, Ransom allegedly shot DeMario Crowder, then 17, during a fight outside of Pearl Cohn High School in Nashville. The latter was critically injured.
On March 1, 2018, Ransom turned himself in but he refused to speak to detectives. He was charged with attempted criminal homicide.
On November 1, 2019, Ransom and Zyshawn Lewis, then 15, allegedly approached a white Hyundai Tucson at Cumberland View Apartments in Nashville and opened fire. Steven Shelton, 18, who was inside the car, was fatally wounded.
At 5:40 p.m. that day, an individual was caught on camera carrying Shelton from the white Hyundai Tucson to the Nashville General Hospital door before driving away. In 2021, Lewis was convicted of facilitation of second-degree murder.
While out on bond for the murder of Shelton, Ransom was caught committing multiple traffic violations on May 24, 2025 in a black Dodge Charger. When he parked at a gas station on Clarksville Pike in Nashville, Metro Nashville Police Department officers tried to approach the car.
Ransom he sped away so the officers deployed a spike strip to deflate the tires. They ordered him out of the vehicle but he still drove away on the punctured tires and tossed an AR-style pistol through the window.
After driving for around two miles south of the gas station, Ransom ran into a tree line off Britt Place in Nashville. He was eventually arrested and charged with driving on a revoked license, felony gun possession and two counts of felony evading.
A judicial commissioner set Ransom’s bond at $28,000. On June 5, 2025, the Nashville man will appear in court on a first-degree murder indictment in connection with the fatal shooting of Shelton.
