Marvin Lee Mutch, 68, of Vallejo, Solano County, California, United States is a convicted felon. He was convicted of the murder of Cassie Riley.

On September 24, 1974, Riley left her home on San Juan Place in Union City, Alameda County, California to get a snack at the Quik Stop Market in Union City. That was the last time she was seen alive.
On September 25, 1974. Riley’s father found her dead in the creek bed along Niles-Alvarado Road in Union City. She was 13.
Riley was beaten and held underwater until she died, according to prosecutors. At the time of her murder, Mutch was employed as a security guard.
While out on bail, Mutch was awaiting trial for allegedly kidnapping a girl, then 13, of Livermore, Alameda County off the street at knifepoint. He was later sentenced to seven years to life in prison for the murder of Riley.

In 2016, Mutchwas granted parole. Recently, detectives gathered evidence that allegedly linked him to possession of child sex abuse material (CSAM).
On May 22, 2025, the sheriff’s enforcement ream (SET) and investigations bureau of the Solano County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at Mutch’s residence in Vallejo. During the search warrant, several electronic devices were seized for forensic examination.
Mutch was arrested and booked into the Solano County Jail in Fairfield, Solano County. He was charged with possession of child pornography, possession of a controlled substance while armed, being a convicted felon in possession of ammunition and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Bond for Mutch was set at $300,000. On May 27, 2025, he will attend a hearing.
