Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, is a citizen of Egypt living illegally in the United States. He is being held on $10,000,000 bond.

On August 27, 2022, Soliman left Egypt and entered the U.S. legally through Los Angeles International Airport in Los Angeles, California, USA on a B2 visa. This type of visa is given to people who are temporarily visiting the U.S. to visit family and friends or for tourism.
Soliman lived in a rented townhouse near Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado, USA. In September 2022, he filed for asylum in the country and applied for a work visa.
Since December 2022, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies had four contacts with Soliman, all of which were traffic stops. On February 26, 2023, his B2 visa expired but he still stayed in the country.
On October 7, 2023, militant groups led by Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel to force the country to release Palestinian prisoners. A total of 79 foreign nationals, 379 members of the security forces and 736 Israeli civilians were killed.
On December 15, 2024, Soliman turned 45. On March 28, 2025, his work visa in the U.S. expired.
While Soliman’s asylum application was still pending, he allegedly launched a targeted terror attack in Boulder, Boulder County, Colorado. In this city on June 1, 2025, he joined a weekly march of a group called Run For Their Lives, which was meant to show solidarity with the 58 hostages still held by Hamas in Gaza.
“Free Palestine!” Soliman allegedly shouted before throwing an incendiary device into the crowd. At least eight people were injured and hospitalized.
The oldest victim is 88 years old and the youngest one is 52. Their names were not releaased.
The Egyptian man was arrested at the scene and taken to a hospital. After his medical evaluation, he was booked into the Boulder County Jail in Boulder and charged with a federal hate crime involving actual or perceived race, religion or national origin, use of explosives or incendiary devices while committing a felony and two counts of first-degree murder.
After Soliman was identified as the suspect, Federal Bureau of Investigation agents searched his residence near Colorado Springs. On June 9, 2025, he will appear in court.
