Whitney Dawn Shull, 39, of Nickerson, Reno County, Kansas, United States has bonded out of jail. She is accused of having sexual contact with a student and serving alcohol to juveniles while working as a Nickerson–South Hutchinson USD 309 substitute teacher.
Aside from Nickerson, Shull has lived in other parts of Reno County including Hutchinson. She is also a former resident of Kansas City, Missouri, USA.
Nickerson–South Hutchinson USD 309 is based in South Hutchinson, Reno County, which is around 3 miles away from Hutchinson. The unified school district includes the communities of Nickerson, South Hutchinson, The Highlands, Willowbrook and Yaggy.

In August 2024, Shull turned 39. While employed by the Nickerson–South Hutchinson USD 309, she allegedly abused three juveniles.
One of the alleged victims is 16 years old and the other two are 17. At least one of them was a student enrolled at the school where Shull was employed.
Shull allegedly fondled the first juvenile and held the second juvenile down by the wrists and tried to have the juvenile touch her. She allegedly touched the third juvenile while the juvenile was unconscious.
According to the office of Sedgwick County, Kansas district attorney Marc Bennett, Shull was charged with aggravated sexual battery of a person 16 or older, attempted unlawful sexual relations, unlawful sexual relations and two counts of hosting minors consuming alcoholic alcoholic liquor or cereal malt beverage. One count of hosting minors refers to an incident on March 15, 2025 and the crimes related to all other charges took place between January 31, 2025 and February 1, 2025.
In May 2025, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that it was conducting an investigation involving Nickerson–South Hutchinson USD 309 students and staff at the request of the Reno County Sheriff’s Office. Bennett agreed to handle the matter at the request of Reno County district attorney Thomas Stanton.
