Malta has yet to place in Miss Universe. The country was represented in the international beauty pageant by Martha Fenech in 2016, Tiffany Pisani in 2017, Francesca Mifsud in 2018, Teresa Rugio in 2019, Anthea Zammit in 2020, Jade Cini in 2021, Maxine Formosa in 2022, Ella Portelli in 2023 and Bèatrice Eliane Apuaghue Njoya in 2024.
Miss Universe Malta 2025
On July 3, 2025, Njoya will crown her successor at The Hilton Malta Conference Centre in Saint Julian’s, Malta. It is the ninth edition of the national beauty pageant that selects the Miss Universe candidate of the country.
A total of 17 women are competing for the Miss Universe Malta 2025 crown. I believe these will be the Top 6 candidates:

- Julia Ann Cluett (Floriana)
- Christine Mifsud Camilleri (Mosta)
- Katya Friggieri (Santa Lucija)
- Svetlana Abela (St. Paul’s Bay)
- Raissa Cachia (Zurrieq)

Miss Universe Malta 2024
On July 11, 2024, Njoya represented St. Paul’s Bay at Miss Universe Malta 2024 and competed against 24 other candidates at The Hilton Malta Conference Centre in St. Julian’s, Malta. She won the title, making her the first mother and the first woman born in Africa to win it.
Runner-up to Njoya was Janei Desira of Zejtun. The second runner-up was Julieth Vasco of Floriana.
On November 16, 2024, Njoya represented Malta at Miss Universe 2024 and competed against 124 other candidates at the Arena Ciudad de México (Arena CDMX) in Azcapotzalco, Mexico City, Mexico. She was unplaced but she made history as the first ever Miss Universe candidate older than 39.
