Michael Paul Brown, 45, of Anaconda, Deer Lodge County, Montana, United States is accused of fatally shooting at least four people. He has yet to be arrested.
Anaconda, a copper smelt city, has a hospital called the Community Hospital of Anaconda. The city is around 80 miles away from Helena, Montana.

At around 10:30 a.m. on August 1, 2025, Brown allegedly fatally shot four people at The Owl Bar in Anaconda. He lived next door to the bar.
That day, Brown was wearing an orange bandana, a tie-dyed shirt and blue jeans. He is believed to be armed and extremely dangerous, officials warned.
What led to the shooting is unclear. Details about the victims have yet to be released.
After the shooting, a special weapons and tactics (SWAT) team cleared Brown’s residence. The Anaconda man remains at large.
According to authorities, Brown was last seen driving a 2007 white Ford F-150 pickup with Montana plates DTY493. The vehicle, which was stolen, was seen on Stumptown Road heading west of Anaconda.
A white Ford F-150 similar to the stolen by vehicle was spotted and was stopped. However, Brown was not inside.
Brown has brown hair and blue eyes. He is 5’10” tall and he weighs around 170 pounds.
Anaconda
Anaconda is the county seat of Deer Lodge County, which currently has less than 10,000 residents. The city was founded by Marcus Daly, a businessman born in Ballyjamesduff, County Cavan, Ulster, Ireland.
In 1881, Daly founded the Anaconda Gold and Silver Mining Company in Anaconda, a copper smelt city he also founded. It was renamed Anaconda Mining Company in 1891, Anaconda Copper Mining Company in 1895, Amalgamated Copper Company in 1899, Anaconda Copper Company in 1915 and the Anaconda Company in 1955.
Born in Los Angeles, California, USA, Carlyle Eubank wrote and directed “Broke”, a western drama film shot in Anaconda from February 2021 to July 2021. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment released the movie on video on demand on May 6, 2025.
