Alexander Lee Rogers, 51, of Longview, Cowlitz County, Washington, United States has been arrested. He is a person of interest in the attempted murder and the murder of his fellow Longview residents Andrew Peters, 73, and Dawn Peters, 64.

Incorporated on February 14, 1924, Longview is home to the Cowlitz Indian Tribe. The city is around 1,000 miles away from Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, USA.

Alexander Lee Rogers

Alexander has an extensive and violent criminal history. He was acquainted with Andrew and Dawn through an old family connection, according to Longview Police Department captain Brandon McNew.

In August 2002, Alexander slashed two victims with a machete, stole one of their cars and fled. He pleaded guilty to first-degree burglary, first-degree assault and second-degree assault and was sentenced to 24 years in prison.

In October 2024, Alexander was released from prison. On August 5, 2025, Andrew and Dawn were stabbed at their residence in Longview allegedly by Alexander.

Dawn died from her injuries at the scene. Andrew airlifted to the hospital and survived.

After committing the crimes, Alexander fled Washington and drove more than a thousand miles, according to investigators. On August 11, 2025, his car, a black BMW, was found abandoned in Calabasas, Los Angeles County.

At around 12:45 p.m. on August 12, 2025, a security officer spotted Alexander in the area of 6th Street and La Fayette Park Place in Westlake District, Los Angeles and called police. Los Angeles Police Department officers positively identified the Longview man at the scene and took him into custody without incident.

Andrew is currently recovering at home. After the arrest of his alleged stabber, McNew stated, “We thank the public for the hundreds of tips received during this investigation, which played a key role in this outcome.”

McNew joined the Longview Police Department in July 2014. He was promoted to corporal in April 2019 and police captain on December 1, 2020.
