Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina was born in Soweto, Gauteng, South Africa to Michael Adetshina and Sara Moyo. Michael is an Igbo Nigerian from Enugu, Nigeria and Moyo is a South African of Mozambican descent.
On August 31, 2024, Chidimma represented Taraba at Miss Universe Nigeria 2024, competed against 24 other candidates at the Eko Hotels and Suits on Victoria Island in Lagos, Nigeria and won the title. On May 4, 2025, she turned 24.
Miss Universe Nigeria 2025 contestants
On August 30, 2025, Chidimma will crown her successor at the Balmoral Convention Center of the Federal Palace Hotel and Casino on Victoria Island. It is the fourth edition of the national beauty pageant that selects Nigeria’s Miss Universe candidate.

Nigeria was represented in Miss Universe by the winner of Miss Nigeria in 1964, the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) from 1987 to 1995 and from 1998 to 2004 and the MBGN first runner-up known as MGBN Universe from 2005 to 2022. Omololu Ojehomon won the inaugural edition of Miss Universe Nigeria in 1984 but she did not compete in Miss Universe.
Currently, Nigeria has three Miss Universe placements. Representing the African country, Agbani Darego finished in the Top 10 in 2001, Olutosin Araromi finished in the Top 20 in 2019 and Chidimma was first runner-up in 2024.
