Mackenzie Lee Sydow is an alumna of Sandia High School and the University of New Mexico, which are both in Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States. On June 5, 2022, she competed against 23 other Miss New Mexico USA 2022 candidates at the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum in Las Cruces, New Mexico and finished in the Top 16.
On June 3, 2023, Sydow competed against 24 other Miss New Mexico USA 2023 candidates at the Center for the Arts of New Mexico State University in Las Cruces and finished in the Top 15. On June 30, 2024, she competed against 31 other Miss New Mexico USA 2024 candidates at the Center for the Arts of New Mexico State University and won the title.
Miss New Mexico USA 2025
On August 17, 2025, Sydow will go back to the Center for the Arts of New Mexico State University to crown her successor. It is the 72nd edition of the beauty pageant that selects New Mexico’s candidate for Miss USA, which selects the Miss Universe candidate of the U.S.

Currently, New Mexico has 20 Miss USA placements including Mai Shanley in 1984. The most recent one was achieved by Bianca Wright.
On July 9, 1984, Shanley represented the U.S. at Miss Universe 1984, competed against 80 other candidates at the James L. Knight Convention Center in Miami, Florida, USA and finished in the Top 10. On September 29, 2023, Wright represented New Mexico at Miss USA 2023, competed against 50 other candidates at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada, USA and finished in the Top 20.
