Originally from India, Harjinder Singh, 28, is a resident of Stockton, California, United States. He is accused of causing a vehicular accident that killed one woman and two men from Florida, USA.

On September 18, 2018, Singh illegally entered the U.S. through California. On September 20, 2018, he was arrested by the U.S. Border Patrol.
During Singh’s arrest, he was processed for expedited removal. However, he claimed at that he was afraid of returning to India. After the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services affirmed his fear, he was released on a $5,000 immigration bond.
The president of the U.S. was Donald Trump from January 20, 2017 to January 20, 2021 and Joe Biden from January 20, 2021 to January 20, 2025. Singh’s work authorization was rejected on September 14, 2020 but approved on June 9, 2021, according to U.S. Department of Homeland Security assistant secretary for public affairs Tricia McLaughlin.
On January 20, 2025, Trump became the U.S. president again. On the afternoon of August 12, 2025, Singh tried to perform an illegal U-turn near Mile Marker 171 while driving a semi-truck and trailer north in the outside lane of Florida’s Turnpike in St. Lucie County, Florida, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Also traveling north, a Florida City, Florida man, 30, was driving a minivan and was not able to avoid the semi-truck. With the driver were two passengers, a Miami, Florida man, 54, and a Pompano Beach, Florida woman, 37.
The minivan crashed into the trailer and wedged underneath. Both passengers of the minivan were pronounced dead at the scene while its driver was life-flighted to ahospital where he died more than two hours later.
Singh was with one passenger named Harneet Singh, 25, of Yuba City, California. The latter did not suffer any injuries in the crash.
On August 13, 2025, Harjinder and Harneet flew to Sacramento, California. On August 15, 2025, a warrant was issued for Harjinder’s arrest and was received by the U.S. Marshals Service.
On August 16, 2025, the U.S. Marshals associated information from the Florida Highway Patrol and responded to an address associated with Harjinder in Stockton. He was the lone occupant of a vehicle that arrived at the location.
The U.S. Marshals took Harjinder into custody without incident and booked him into the San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp, California. He has yet to make his initial appearance in court.
