Gregory Alphonso, 33, of Worcester, Massachusetts, United States has been arrested. He is accused of attempting to commit murder in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA.
Worcester is the second most populous city in Massachusetts. The city is around 180 miles away from Brooklyn, which is home to Brooklyn College, Long Island University, Medgar Evers College, the New York City College of Technology and the New York University Tandon School of Engineering.
In May 2016, Paul B. Saucier became the deputy chief of the Worcester Police Department. In September 2023, he became the chief of the department.

On May 21, 2025, a man, 37, was shot in the stomach at 1459 E. 58th St. between Avenue N and East 58th Street in Flatlands, Brooklyn. At around 6:00 p.m. on May 22, 2025, a gunman wounded a man, 29, inside the Albany Houses on Bergen Street in Brooklyn.
Authorities did not release the names of the victims. Whether or not Alphonso was involved in both crimes have yet to be confirmed.
On May 23, 2025, a warrant was issued from the City of New York Supreme Court for Alphonso’s arrest. The court is based in Civic Center, Manhattan, New York City.
The New York City Police Department requested assistance from the regional fugitive task force of the U.S. Marshals Service in New York and New Jersey, USA with locating Alphonso. The NYPD and the task force worked collaboratively and provided investigative information to the Massachusetts Fugitive Task Force (MAFTF) of the U.S. Marshals.
Investigators developed information that Alphonso was in Massachusetts. On August 18, 2025, he was found and arrested in Worcester by the MAFTF with the help of the Worcester Police Department and the violent fugitive apprehension section of the Massachusetts State Police.
Alphonso was charged as a fugitive from justice. He will be arraigned in Massachusetts and extradited back to New York.
